Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis

Howdy football addicts. I here bring you another part of the Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. As usual, in these early season editions of Recruiting Watch, we assess two of the most coveted recruits. Alright! Let us get to it.

Jerry Riggs - WR:
Jerry Riggs is an accomplished WR, out of LA specifically, ELEANOR MCMAIN SECONDARY SCHOOL. Riggs is ranked as a 5 star player, and 20 overall. He is 6' 2" tall, weighs 199 pounds and is 18 years old.

Is a natural catcher, and will only get better as he gains more experience. What do you see on his tape? So fast. Crazy fast. Has the balance and shiftiness to work well on short and intermediate routes from the slot.

As one of the better WR coming out of high school this year, it is no surprise that Jerry Riggs has is being courted by several programs. Local news report that at least these teams have shown interest in bringing him into their program: LSU Tigers, Nevada Wolf Pack, Memphis Tigers, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Tulane Green Wave, BYU Cougars, Kansas State Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels, Pittsburgh Panthers, Missouri Tigers, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, Arizona State Sun Devils, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Jerry Riggs acknowledged that the LSU Tigers are the leading contender for his signature. But he made clear, that he is still keeping his options open.

Ken Marroquin - DE:
Ken Marroquin is a young DE, coming out of LORD BOTETOURT HIGH, VA. Marroquin is ranked as a 5 star player, and 13 overall. He is 6' 3" tall, weighs 244 pounds and is 19 years old.

Has developed nice strength already. Offenses will need to keep tabs on him. He will close down fairly quickly if left unblocked. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be.

Teams are competing for the signature of the promising DE. It is going to be a hard decision to make, when the list of teams includes Ken Marroquin.

The consensus is that Marroquin will probably commit to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It will be interesting to see if this prediction holds true.

Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis

Hello football addicts, happy you are here for a brand new edition of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. Here you get reports on two of the top prospects. Moving on to his report cards, here is what we have learned:

Steve Conn - WR:
Steve Conn is a WR, who played high school football at BRET HARTE UNION HIGH, CA. Conn is a 5 star recruit, and his overall ranking is 3. Conn is 18 years old, weighs 192 pounds and is 6' 1" tall.

Just throw the ball in his direction, and he will do the rest. His speed compliments his game, and will be a nice asset to the offense. Slippery. That is what he is. Will work well in traffic. Will occasionally turn short gains into big plays.

The following teams are rumored to be interested in Conn: Wisconsin Badgers, Navy Midshipmen, West Virginia Mountaineers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, BYU Cougars, Fresno State Bulldogs, Memphis Tigers, Virginia Cavaliers, Boise State Broncos, UCLA Bruins, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Tennessee Volunteers, California Golden Bears.

My sources indicate that Oregon Ducks are his current favorite destination. This seems supported by his glowing recount of his visit to the program.

Arlo Vickers - G:
Arlo Vickers is an accomplished G, graduating from MAYFLOWER HS, AR. His ranking of 2 nationally, makes Vickers a 5 star player. Vickers is 6' 5" tall, clocks in at 303 pounds and is 18 years old.

Nice blocking skills on run plays. He will contribute to the running game. He has shown in high school he can hold his own in pass blocking. He keeps good leverage and will only get better once college coaches get their hands on him. He was one of the smarter offensive linemen.

Arlo Vickers has a received a lot of attention from recruiters. Wisconsin Badgers, Navy Midshipmen, West Virginia Mountaineers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Michigan State Spartans, Oregon Ducks, BYU Cougars, Memphis Tigers, Virginia Cavaliers, Boise State Broncos, Arkansas Razorbacks, Arizona State Sun Devils, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers have all been in contact with Vickers.

Vickers has made clear, that no decision has been made yet. However, he did speak very highly of his experience with the recruiters from the LSU Tigers.
