I am glad to be here with another edition of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. In this round, I evaluate Ernest Vandiver. Vandiver is an intriguing T, who played high school football at THOMAS WORTHINGTON HS, OH. Vandiver is a 4 star recruit, and his overall ranking is 51. Vandiver is 6' 5" tall, weighs 294 pounds and is 19 years old. OK, let us get to it.
Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Sufficiently strong for college football. Nice blocking skills on run plays. He will contribute to the running game. A really smart kid.
According to multiple sources, teams that have contacted Vandiver include: Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, West Virginia Mountaineers, Navy Midshipmen, Tennessee Volunteers, Oregon Ducks, Arkansas Razorbacks, Arizona State Sun Devils, Louisville Cardinals, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Oregon State Beavers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Vanderbilt Commodores, Central Michigan Chippewas, Syracuse Orange, Purdue Boilermakers, Maryland Terrapins, Wisconsin Badgers, BYU Cougars, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Indiana Hoosiers, Toledo Rockets, Temple Owls, Ball State Cardinals.
The consensus is that Vandiver will probably commit to the Oregon Ducks. It will be interesting to see if this prediction holds true. Week 8 Recruiting Update83 players committed this week.

Here is what we found out:
A real leader! He is driven by his love of the sport. Known for being a bit of a joker in the locker room. but in the good way, everyone smiles when asked about him. Pretty good straight line speed. Will keep up with most receivers.
The list of teams that have been in contact with Javier Duke is long. The 18 year old Fraser, weighs 210 pounds and is 6' 3" tall. Here is our analysis:
He trusts what he sees, and what he sees is mostly right. Good enough accuracy to succeed in a pass first offense, and definitely the foundation to be great. His arm is good, but not great... yet!
The teams interested in Frank Fraser include Clemson Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, Arizona State Sun Devils, Washington Huskies, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Louisville Cardinals, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Kansas State Wildcats, Iowa Hawkeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Pittsburgh Panthers, Navy Midshipmen, Kentucky Wildcats, Air Force Falcons. Frank Fraser admitted that it was a bit overwhelming, with teams tripping over each other to set up meetings with him.
Fraser seems to be a slam dunk to commit to the Clemson Tigers. Recently, he hinted in an interview that a decision might come soon. Week 5 Recruiting Update38 players committed this week.

It is time for another edition of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. In the early season issues of Recruiting Watch, we provide an in depth look at two of the five star players. OK, let us get to it.
Edward Merrill - FS: Edward Merrill is a blooming FS, out of JORDAN HIGH, CA. His ranking of 8 nationally, makes him a 5 star recruit. Merrill is 6' 2" tall, weighs 192 pounds and is 19 years old.
Has the speed to stay close to his man. While not elite, he has enough speed that you can do a lot of different things with him. Solid tackler. A really smart kid.
According to multiple sources, teams that have contacted Merrill include: Virginia Tech Hokies, Michigan State Spartans, Oregon Ducks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Clemson Tigers, Wisconsin Badgers, Boise State Broncos, Kansas State Wildcats, Missouri Tigers, Louisville Cardinals, Kentucky Wildcats, Vanderbilt Commodores, Pittsburgh Panthers.
My sources indicate that Notre Dame Fighting Irish are his current favorite destination. This seems supported by his glowing recount of his visit to the program.
Jason Mares - DT: Jason Mares is DT, from NORTH MIAMI BEACH SENIOR HIGH, FL. His ranking of 7 nationally, makes him a 5 star recruit. He weighs in at 314 pounds, is 6' 4" tall, at the age of 18.
Teammates look to him for leadership, and he consistently delivers. Raised to know the value of teamwork. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. Teams want players can hold the middle. He is strong enough to stay on his feet even against bigger and nastier college players. Is sufficiently fast to stay on the field against the pass. That is definitely a plus. Coaches like how well he tackles.
A lot of teams are vying for a commitment from the young DT. The number of teams that have approached Jason Mares is not insignificant. Combining multiple media reports, the list of teams that have been in contact include at least the following: Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Navy Midshipmen, West Virginia Mountaineers, Oregon Ducks, Minnesota Golden Gophers, BYU Cougars, Arkansas Razorbacks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Virginia Cavaliers, Washington Huskies, Boise State Broncos, Utah Utes, Ole Miss Rebels, Miami (FL) Hurricanes, South Florida Bulls.
Mares has made clear, that no decision has been made yet. However, he did speak very highly of his experience with the recruiters from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Week 3 Recruiting Update25 players committed this week.

It is that time again. Yes! Another edition of Recruiting Watch With Darren Francis. In these early season installments of Recruiting Watch, we look at two of the top prospects. OK, let us get down to brass tacks.
Jessie Ornelas - FS: Jessie Ornelas is a FS, graduating from PEACHTREE RIDGE HS, GA. His ranking of 4 nationally, makes Ornelas a 5 star recruit. Ornelas is 19 years old, weighs 188 pounds and is 6' 2" tall.
This guy understands what it takes to succeed. He is driven by his love of the sport. Has the speed to stay close to his man. While not elite, he has enough speed that you can do a lot of different things with him. Finishes tackles well. Will not have a hard time learning new coverage techniques.
His high school confirmed that Wisconsin Badgers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Michigan State Spartans, Boise State Broncos, Oregon Ducks, BYU Cougars, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Clemson Tigers, Washington Huskies, Kansas State Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Oklahoma Sooners, have all been in contact with his coaches, asking about him.
It is hard to decipher where Ornelas will end up. He has provided very few clues that warrant more than mere speculation and wishful thinking.
Ronald Klein - WR: Ronald Klein is an accomplished WR, coming out of GULF HS, FL. His ranking of 3 nationally, makes Klein a 5 star player. Klein is 18 years old, weighs 186 pounds and is 6' 0" tall.
Coaches love his ability to catch the ball. Soon everyone will know why. Here is a kid that allows you to go over the top whenever you want to. His speed will really open up the running game. Will dodge tacklers after the catch. Works well from the slot.
The following teams are rumored to be chasing the promising WR: Florida State Seminoles, West Virginia Mountaineers, Wisconsin Badgers, Tennessee Volunteers, South Florida Bulls, Navy Midshipmen, Virginia Tech Hokies, Michigan State Spartans, Boise State Broncos, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Arizona State Sun Devils, Clemson Tigers, Kansas State Wildcats, UCF Knights, Florida Gators, Miami (FL) Hurricanes.
